email problems

    im wondering if anyone can help me , i dont know much about pc's so please excuse my ignorance

    the problem is on certain emails i receive i cant seem to open the attachments when i try a msg appears saying:

    this file does not have a programme associated with it for performing this action. create an assocaition in the folder options control panel.

    ive been in the control panel and im totally lost in what im suppose to do, is there a way i can rectify this problem or is it my laptop isnt powerful enough??:confused:

    if you right click the file you should get an 'open with' option - which allows you to choose the program form a list... video files will be called (something).avi, music files (something).mpeg or (something).wav, pictures (something).jpeg and powerpoint .pps etc.... thus giving you an idea of what program to use.... there are many file extensions - your amchine has not opened a file of that type before and thus windows has no association for that file type...
