Where'd Marty go.....?

I mistakenly tuned into 2FM the other morning ( I dont go there since Marty arrived back) and heard Shane O Donohoe doing the show.
Has Marty been dumped or what has happened...?
Anybody else feel that 2FM is starting to get a very 'old' feel agout it lately?
Seems like they are ageing and slowing up with their presenters rather than pumping any new life into their programming ( Only one worth listening to is Cormac Battle)
Anyone got any thoughts on this?

    Ah Bugger,
I must learn to pay more attention to the important stuff....
Anyone willing to give to a fund to keep him wherever he is ....?

    Hey Choppermadra,

Marty is a legend! - Bet you the ratings will go up with him on board - he's more popular then you think!

    Luka :)

    Well Luka,
Maybe I am being a bit harsh on poor Marty, but his style just doesn't give me that wake up buzz I would expect from a breakfast show, horses for courses and the like. I am no scheduler or planner but would drivetime or something like that not be more to his strengths..?
True, he is not the worst but surely, everything in its own proper place.

Damn I was hoping they were after getting rid of him already

I will gladly give the asking price! :p

I think Shane O is a fantastic presenter and just what the breakfast show needs. What were 2fm thinking.. "Marty in the Morning" - SHEESH!

Shane rules....he's been great since the days of Tubridy....they should havbe kept him instead of making us change from that format to Rick N Ruth, then to Marty, just to taunt us with it again....
    NEVER BRING MARTY BACK!!!
He plays Maddonna every morning. Seriously. It gets annoying after a while.

Shane O is far better the that oldie Marty. Marty should be given a nice little slot over on Radio One and leave the 2fm breakfast show to Shane O. As far as I am concerned, he was the reason as to why the Ryan Tubberdy(sp) show was successful. He is class

I think Marty Whelan would be great in the afternoon/evening, instead of that insufferable bint, Ruth Scott. I never thought much of Shane O'Donoghue, until he started doing The Full Irish, with Tubridy. He's brilliant though, and does a great Pat Kenny impression (not an easy task). If John Clarke had any sense, he'd replace Whelan with O'Donoghue and Scott with Whelan. Oh, and he'd also move Dave Fanning back to his old 8pm slot, rather than that stupid phone-in crap.

yes i am sure that 2fm brekfast show ratings will increase with marty but it will probably be from people who would have been listening to radio 1 anyway - becuase the 2fm listeners have long since left and prob gone to today fm and Ian Dempsey - Marty is rubbish.

Ian Dempsey rules..perhaps its just the gift grub or the general get-me-away-from-2fm-ness of it all, but hey, he's good.
My bus driver has taken to tuning off 2fm but onto South East radio....god help us all.

Marty's in America! He was on the same flight as me, to Newark on Saturday morning.

Didn't Marty do the morning show back in the days before Century Radio? I know he used to have the evening rush hour show at one stage, but I have a feeling he took over the breakfast show from Ronan Collins.
Or am I just imagining the entire thing?:o

    Yep,(AFAIK)

Marty did have the 2FM breakfast slot yonks back, before he ran to century and dirtied his bib with RTE. I will openly say it, that back then he was good and was the right man for that audience but now due to the onset of years you tend to feel that he is starting to suffer from 'LarryGoganitis' in that he is older than he percieves himself to be and is growing rapidly out of touch with the younger listeners.
Marty would be perfect for a BBC radio 2 style programme. Marty is talented, but I dont think he should be in his current slot on 2FM breakfast.
If the powers that be in 2FM are trying to move their target audience from the younger to the older age brackets they seem to be going the right way about it, but they must remember that if they leave a void and forget about their younger listeners that their competitors will be more than willing to provide a service for them and keep them listening to their stations.
2FM, Your future is in your own Hands.....

I will always remember Marty on Century and his competion to find the best HELLO style headline. I think the winner was "Newlyweds, Hitler and Eva Braun show around their mountain hideaway, and share with us their plans for the future".

Just a sublime piece of daytime radio buffoonery.

Haven't heard him recently as if I am up at that time, it's Morning Ireland for me.

East Coast is better than south east radio, no bother. South East radio just has news, the obituaries and Daniel O donnell.

Would you buy a used car from Marty? Cmon lads...
2FM lost the plot, or more like John Clarke. Reckon Ceili House for breakfast is more fun...
At least it dosent pretend to be "with it".....
