Redundany problems

I'm being made redundant at the end of December, and have taken holidays that allow me to finish up on Friday week.

In the meantime i've been offered a job, only problem is, they want me to start this Monday.

I am aware that technically i'm not supposed to start a new job until my "Termination date" from my current job....but if I were to start a new job two weeks beforehand, am I likely to get in trouble with anyone (tax office)?

I do still have two weeks holidays left, so I could potentially just take next week as holidays, would just like some help/reassurance please!

Only issue might be that you won't have your P45 from the Old place when you start in the new place.
Can't see why you'd have any issues regarding starting a new job early, perhaps a quick call to revenue?

Hey join the club!! Im being made redundnat at the end of February. We were told that if we find a job in the meantime that they will sort us out i.e. let us go and pay our wages and package until the end of the month that we leave.

By the way, what is a good industry to be in these days? Computers are done really, the business is moving over to Eastern Europe because of cheaper labour. So where is a good place to go?

    Me 3!!! (end of december)

I plan on using my free time to ski and play poker while on government sponsorship for a few months :D
Then i'll look for something but like Baldie I've to think about whether I want to continue in the computer business.

etho, like bogger says there shouldn't be a problem other than you may be on emergency tax in your new job until the P45 and stuff is sorted.
