So you have an old school ipod? You want the video ipod, well you dont have to buy the new one :D, your old ipod can do the same thing. I found a great guide in the new PcFormat mag and if anyone is genuinely interested ill right it out here for you :).

You would think so :D, but its a whole lot easier than that. Basically you install this version of linux that they link you to, it then becomes a dual boot so its completely reversable. You can either boot the ipod normally or through linux.

But no compression.... So a 21 min episode of simpsons or family guy turns into a hefty 1.5GB..... That aint gonna work by anyones standards....

Uncompressed video isn't fun. No-one in their right mind would bother with that trick. Its just not worth it. Sure it'd take more than 20 mins to transfer a 20 min video.

Unless you enjoy "Look where I shoved Linux today" competitions, it is.

Yeah, did this with my photo ipod (installed linux to use the mic input, tried out the other features too).

At the time you had to roll back the firmware to pre-podcasting, I'd imagine that hasn't changed. It was a nice novelty factor but it takes too much space and uses too much battery power and the screen is too small (the video ipod is small enough, the regular is much worse)
