Yes thats right you heard it off me first folks. Billy Corgan has announced that he wants to get the Smashing Pumpkins back together. He announced this the day before he was due to go on the road promoting his new album "the Future Embrace". Is there a significance in the title? He says his heart is in Chicago and he wants his band back. So it looks like the most likely reunion ever is going to happen. When and with who only God (Billy Corgan) knows. Also, who will be in the line up? Long standing friend Jimmy Chamberlin will almost definetly agree to any deal. However James is enjoying success with a perfect circle. Also will it be Melissa or Darcy on Bass? I hope its Darcy personally.

And since then not a word has been said about it apart from... Corgan has admitted not yet getting James Iha or the junkie bassist on board and has hinted it may never happen. He said it may only be a dream, or some crap like that.

He said this many times before, but he is such a prick that none of the other members want to get back.

It was probably a press stunt. Announced the day before his album came out? Definately a cry for publicity...

posted this in a thread awhile a go dude.

probably not going to happen, corgan hasn't done anything worth of merit in the whole post pumpkin era, and it's just about the time of future embrace that he realised this. Sucks to be him i suppose :)

Corgan said he wanted to get the pumpkins back together so that he could reclaim his old songs that meant so much to him. He also said that the band would probably have to be a totally different line up ("Pumpkins mark II"), though i'd say Jimmy Chamberlin would probably return. In a subsequent interview he blamed James (personality clash) and Darcy (drugs) for splitting the pumpkins and seemed quite bitter towards them. Despite saying he wanted to reclaim his old songs about a month later in australia he stormed off stage after the crowd started shouting for pumpkins songs. Corgan is a disturbed, when the pumpkins come back it won't be for long....

He's a disturbed what? I dunno, who cares. His gig at the ambassador rocked, that's all I have to say on the subject:o

Well, Jimmy's definitely onboard. He said at the complex gig in the village (after the show when he took a lot of time to talk to fans) a few months ago that there will be a new album and tour, most likely in 2007, after a second JC complex album and another billy solo album.

Lets be honest, a pumpkins reunion is never going to be on the scale of a pink floyd reunion, but it means a lot to those of us who never got to see the pumpkins live and I reckon it's going to be worth it. Corgan's an amazingly talented songwriter and those smashing pumpkin songs deserve to played live again. I can't wait, tbh.

That would be great if there came back. The Smashing Pumpkins were one of my all time favourite bands and still are!

    It will probably be 2007.
Isn't there something about 2007 on the inside sleeve of picies iscariot?

If he can't get James Iha or D'arcy back then I wouldn't like to see a "new" Smashing Pumpkins return.

While Zwan were only average, I'm very fond of Corgan's new solo stuff. In fact I'd be quite satisfied with him continuing his solo career over a Pumpkins reunion.
