Don't know anything about this stuff, but My kid wants a new skate "DECK" for Christmas, I have no idea how much to spend or what type to look for.
I got this website of a Skateshop near me and found this Deck with the Checkers http://www.lazydog.ie, I think it's cool but what I thnk means nothing.
    Opinions welcome.

How old is he? Has he been skating for a while or is it just another phase going around at the schools?

He's 13, and been skating for about 4-5 years now, definitely not a faze

Yeah LazyDog is a great shop and a great website go in to Pat and he'll point you in the right direction.Skater owned shops like this are the way to go simply cos they know what they're talking about.

You should also check to see if its just a deck he wants/needs, or if its a full setup needed.

Either way, go into the shop at a quiet-ish time if possible and they'll likely be extremely helpful, I'd guess they get a lot of confused parents around this time of year ;)

Yeah I think it's just a Deck he wants, 60 yoyo's sounds OK to me too.
Is this the Going rate ?

    Hi Uch,

yeah 60 yoyo's is about right.....! You should be able to get him a decent deck for around that price !

There's also two other stores in the city centre , G1 on o'connell street , ( you go through a small doorway beside Burger King ,and it's on the first floor , just ring the door bell and they'll let you in .........! ). Or there's Skate City i think it's called ........ Near central bank in temple bar ! If you walk through crown alley , and go straight up towards central bank it's on your right hand side , ( through another small doorway , and up to the first floor again.........!).

    Hope this helps.......

Thanks for all the help, I called into the shop on Saturday and got the Deck, looks pretty cool, Hope the Kid will be happy with it. Great shop though has a great selection, but chap there ( Pat I think ) said things aren't going so well so hopefully things will pick up for Christmas as he seems a nice Guy, and it would be a shame for him to have to close.
