It'd help if you can a make and model... or at least what inputs it has. Going on your sketchy info, I'd imagine it'll receive a scart input, meaning you could connect a Sky Box/Free View Box/VHS/DVD to it, it won't however contain it's own Tuner.... But I'm only guessing.

Even if it doesnt have a tuner i think you can buy external tuners that have scart connections. But ive seen a lot with tv tuners built in anyway.

I think a lot of the large (42") Plasma "TVs" don't actually have tuners in them anyway, meaning you need an external tuner or just a Sky box or VCR. As long as it has Scart connections then you can effectively use it as a TV.

confirms that it does have its own tuner.

    on a side note,
if you had a plasma without a tuner and a sky digibox,
would you be exempt from tv licensing?

afaik to be classed as a tv it needs to receive u/vhf?
    is that right?

It makes sense but i wouldnt know but if you had normal tvs in the house youd have to get rid of them.

wasnt really thinking of that
not likely to get rid of all the portable tellies just for the sake of 100eu a year :0

I have a standalone tv tuner which plugs the tv pipe and then into a 17" lcd via Vga connection, got it off boards for €50.Only thing now is it was dropped a few times and now there are lines across screen,so I guess the drops had an affect, rats. So I suppose you could use the plasma as a tv if you have one of the tuners I have..

I can also plug a PS2 into it and I have dvd,vtr in it also.

Not sure, it does have a UHF modulator, though not a specific UHF tuner.

It is a digital tuner though, so I'm sure the powers that be would try and get their €155 (dunno where you can get it for 100eur! :o )
