Anyone in Dublin south hear what sounds like an air raid siren? Really freaky. Around the Donnybrook area or perhaps further in towards town.

I heard a weird noise out in Glasthule/Sandycove area.
I presumed it was just the wind.

In fariness they test the siren at Cathal Brugha (Rathmines) barracks once a week but AFAIR it's every friday at 11/12am?

I've heard it every now and then over the last few years.

I've been recurrently disappointed that the apocalypse has not arrived.

yeah i do hear it every week, there also used to be one down the road from me in a garage called reg plunkets before it got knocked and turned into apartments, every morning it would sound, (not as loud as cahal barricks), and i found out it was when the garage door would be opening, to warn workers.

I was working down near rathmines during the summer, and the first time I heard that, I almost **** myself, I thought we were being bombed or something.

I was wondering about this myself last night. I was in the killester/raheny area.

Bit of an odd time for a "practice" drill don't you think ?

I just asked CuLT this same question in real life and he had no idea what it was.

I found this thread as the first result in a Google search for it and would you look at that, there's CuLT posting in a thread after it's been answered. :pac:

Is that not just Brendan O' Connor rehearsing for tomorrow night's show.

He'd be just leaving the canteen around then and bound to be letting off some wind.

EDIT: Just noticed the thread date, make that Gerry Ryan so :pac:
