For 1500 i would rather go for a well known brand, it doesnt seem that cheap.

So you'd rather cheap and crap? or expensive and crap? This is moderately expensive for a very good laptop. Walked into the local sony store yesterday, and was amazed what they were asking for a laptop with shiny screen technology. Laptops are only as good as the components inside, the lidl/aldi laptop are always tops for price/performance.

Who cares about what brand the laptop is? If you look at the specs, all of the components are from well known manufacturers - AMD, ATI, Seagate etc.
Try speccing out an equivalent machine from Dell and see what the difference is.

Ah, but people dont buy things in Sony stores.

    Do they?

It is a nice laptop, but not that much cheaper than a Dell 9300. However having seen a good few Aldi/Lidl laptops in my time (one over 6 years old- not bought in Ireland) I can say they are as reliable, and possibly more so than anything from Dell or Tosh, not to mention Sony junk.

As noted, the package from Aldi/Lidl is nearly always well thought out with nice things like a remote that fits into the PCMICA slot etc.

Sony sell laptops among other things. One thing they do sell very well is the idea of quality and percision. Colour like no other etc, etc. I've heard people go on and on about bravia lcds, but tbh it's no better than other models considering the premium you're paying. Sony like to think of themselves as an aspirational brand. I've got a good job, earning tonnes of money, I'll go buy some sony stuff now, I've earned it :)

Anyways people who know better, ie. fellow boardsters know this is a crock of **** :)
