I'm a fairly newcomer to the whole Lost scene, only started watching it when myself and my brother got the first half of Season 1 on dvd, which cost €49.99 or so. So I was fairly shocked when I visisted Amazon and found that not only was the entire season released at once on Region 1, but it was $38.99. Not sure exactly what that translates to in euro, but I know it's cheaper than half of season 1, which is a bit ridiculous.
How many episodes are in the season as a whole? Because if the second half of season 1 is another €50, then I think I'll order the whole season from Amazon and sell the first half.
    Thanks.

There were 24 episodes in the first series, so if you have a multi region player your far better off getting a US region 1 copy as the second half won't be available here for a good while yet.

It's all Channel 4's fault though.

I really really really dont see what the problem is.......in fairness if you dont shop around then you shouldnt really expect to get a good deal......
Purchasing items off the internet is generally cheaper than purchasing from a high street store. I dont want to get into the economics behind this as I am sure someone as already gone through them in great detail in another post.
    As already mentioned----shop around....

I reckon the Region 2 Part 1 set was released pre-Christmas because they knew it'd shift more copies beforehand than a set which was complete in January. Bit evil on their part considering. And the ability of UK broadcasters' delays in airing a series affecting the DVD release (see 24 and tons of others) continues to amaze me.

But whatever about the way it was split and the reasons behind it, there is NO excuse for its sale price being so ridiculously high (€100+ for a season that cost me around €30, including postage from the US!) No wonder people buy multi-region players and acquire elsewhere.
