Early stages of tournmament. I have an twice average stack of around 4000, blinds 50/100.

A loose aggressive player (approx 3500) opens the betting for 250 (does this with a wide range of hands, any Ax, any two face cards, any suited connecters etc) on the button. SB calls, and I complete with Ah5h.

Flops comes As-9c-5c. SB checks and I lead out for 300. LAG makes it 900. SB folds and it's my turn.

    What do I do now?

This doesnt sound like someone who can fold AK AQ in this scenario, so with that assumption think for 5 seconds then go all in.

    All in for me,

if he has you beaten so be it, but you cant really be faulted for such a move seeing as he is so aggressive

Thanks for the reply Hector, was hoping you'd post your opinion.

If I go all in, surely AK is the only hand that he will call with that I'm beating. While he is loose aggressive he is a solid player imo. If he has a set or A9, then I'm in deep trouble. If he has AcXc then he's 52/48 fav and I'm still in trouble.

My hand isn't all that strong and can I make a case for calling the raise, and then jamming on the flop if the turn is a non-club or a non-nine. If the scare-card comes I can still get away from my weak two pair in decent shape or am i being too passive?

Yeah the hand is totally different if hes a good player, then I would probably call the flop then check raise nearly any turn. Obv a 9 wouild suck. Calling and leading the turn is less profitable but safer. What did you do?

All in no other option, just hope he has no clubs coz he's more than likely gonna call you.

I pushed nearly instantly after he raised. He showed Ac10c, and the 10s on the river gave him a nice pot.

After having a while to think through the hand, I just felt that my hand is not the kind of hand that I want to be committing the majority of my chips with.

If the turn is a brick and I jam, then it is still very hard for him to call with the hand that he held, let alone AK,AQ.

I think all in was the right move here, I also think the call with A T was not a very good call even though he hit on the end. He had two callers and someone betting into him. He could well have been dominated.

There was only two of us in the pot, and he was favourite against my two pair with his flush draw and his other 5 outs.

If I smooth call the flop raise and the turn is the brick, does he lay down his hand then?

Your all-in was exactly right and you wouldn't even be thinking about it now had he not caught his wonder card

No matter how you look at it you played it correctly, so don't try and talk yourself out of doing the same thing next time
