My dad has hinted at a motor for one of his (3) dishes for Christmas. can anyone tell me what exactly I'm looking for, how much it is & where to get it ?

    TIA

Maybe this is what he wants.

That would be the easiest to set up, easier than an actuator anyway :). Plus those Motek's are one of the best of their kind.

Make sure its not for a Sky Digibox, The Sky box won't controll a motor. The Motek is very good. If the receiver has USALS or GOTOX and you enter your own lat & Long (eg 52N and 8W is near Limerick). Follow alignment instructions with a absolutely vertical mount, once one satellite is found the rest are automatic. Finding & storing the positions manually is not fun at all.

An 80cm dish can get about 19 satellites or so. This motor in theory can take up to 1.1m lightweight dish

Very big dishes need an actuator.
