    Howye.

A few more questions for the compound aficionados out there. Firstly, does anyone know of a weblink that shows how to tie the D-loop knot? Or, can explain how to do it?

Also, this is what the description of the bow on eBay says about the cams ..... "The bow has the XT3000 limbs and #2 command cams plus with 75% let off modules. The weight is 50-60lbs and the draw is 25"-28.5".

Can anyone tell me from that if the cams are Single/Hard cams, Medium cams or Soft cams.

    Thanks to all!

OK, before I start, I should say that I don't shoot compound and am not an expert in compound bows. However, since none of us really are, I did a bit of research and can probably give you some decent answers.

Firstly, your d loop problem is easily solved:
The fifth post on this page has some nice pictures to go with the descriptions as well. There's a shorter description here. As for material, most recommend using a similar material to release aid material. Of course some release aids just use metal and in that case, some companies recommend using fastflight (eg Carter).

Your cam question is a bit trickier. Your first option is to email hoyt who manufacture the cams if I'm not mistaken. The problem is that most modern performance (non beginner) cams are classed as medium or hard. To complicate matters, the amount of let off can make a certain cam geometry more or less agressive. 75% is a reasonably large let off and I think in general Command Cams are regarded as being closer to hard then to medium so I would lean towards hard myself. Before you make up your mind however, have a look at this thread. The 5th post is probably most relevant, but if you read the whole thread you'll see how inaccurate area terms like 'medium', 'soft' and 'hard' really are.

Hope that was some help and not just the ravings of a mad man. I never can tell myself.

Watched Rambo the other day, I want to be like him! :D

Real reason is that I saw a bargin on eBay when I was on downtime in the lab ("downtime/eBay" has cost me so much money over the years!) and had a kinda knee-jerk reaction and bought it. I'll always be a recurver though, real shootin'!

yeah, I was surprised to see you posting about the compound again. Especially considering how much your shooting improved from DCU. Thats what you get for shooting with me in DCU

Still, I suppose it gives you an opportunity to chat up lilRedSmurf :p

    The CC+ are medium-to-hard cams.

Hoyt called them hard when they first came out, the predecessors (Command Cams) were defined as medium. They're not as hard as a single cam, but they're not exactly soft. If you use the "hard" column in spine tables you'll get a pretty good match at most reasonable poundages etc. They'll feel perhaps a bit spongier at the stops because of the high letoff, but that doesn't actually affect the draw curve and cam profile.

Also, be advised that they are dual cams, so you will have to occasionally check the timing - none of this "hybrid cam, never needs timing, never needs tuning" stuff.

    Hope this helps. :)

Yeah, got better in Maynooth but made 2 utterly stupid mistakes due to a lack of concentration that kept me below 400 - pretty annoyed with myself over that!

You can only chat ppl up with a compound if you can hammer the 10! :o
