As a huge fan of lost and still watch every episode with alot of interest i'm starting to wonder bout them dragging there heals and im starting to wonder about is the end product going to be worthy of all the time spent watching the show and coming up with somewhat insane theories on whats going on?
i really don't have faith in how its going to turn out anymore.

More info on the Dharma Initiative was posted yesterday on a well known spoiler site (I'm not going to post a link or a spoiler). I like the sound of where they're going with it.

Its a known fact that they are going to explain the cause of (and reason for) the plane crash this season. I think that explanation will make or break the show. If its cool and clever, then great. If its stupid, then it will hurt the show.

Didn't know they'd explain that this season, but I agree that this (more so than the monster or even why Dharma exists) will be what makes or breaks the entire series. If it's been crashed on purpose (as it probably has), it has to a) be satisfying to the viewer b) not sound as if it was made up mid-series as a catch-all for the mysteries so far c) explain not just the Filght 815 crash, but the likely reason for the other crashes as well (the Black Rock, the Nigerian plane, Danielle's ship, Desmond's arrivial) and most importantly d) make sense.

I'm glad they're obviously not going down the X-Files route of keeping the mystery going so long, and adding so many layers, the viewers just lose interest. But since the key interest in the show may hinge on such mysteries as the monster and the cause of the crash (not so much The Others or Dharma), if they answer something so vital so soon, I half wonder if any of the remaining mysteries will be as compelling.

To be honest, we mostly now suspect the monster is a machine, a Dharma genetically-modified biological creature or a Dharma projection (albeit with the ability to uproot trees) - I think the monster was way more scary when we knew next to nothing about it (i.e. in the pilot). So sometimes the more answers, the less intense the effect.

I'm enjoying this season so far and I'd be afraid that I won't enjoy another series if such a big revelation were to happen too soon.
I wouldn't mind the second series continued to add mystery and know that everything will be tied up in a nice little package in the third series.
I still would prefare if this was the last series though, as someone mentioned, the x-files did drag on and I would hate to see Lost suffer the same way.
I also wouldn't care if everything wasn't explained at the end either because it would be crap if all the mysteries of the island were explained too easily and quickly. Then people would still debate their theories long after the programme is over.

yes but for all the mystery and build up - will we be left thinking "meh" when it all comes to an end? too much build up could really kill it off

Hence why i'd like this to be the last series and if it isn't i'd then want them to kepp building the suspence cos Lost without the mystery is like Happy Days witout richie cunningham.....it doesn't feel right.

Maybe some things in Lost should not be explained, keep the mystery behind it. Thats what would will make an even greater show

Season 2 has been slow so far but it should pick up soon, Im upto episode 6 and things are looking interesting for 7 and beyond ;) Im very very tempted to read the spoilers around here but I'll try to resist - the twists in the show are half its charm

What if they go they way of, for example the glowing briefcase in Pulp Fiction... and never reveal any of the mysteries?

Because the reality is not as good as the speculation that goes on?

I'd hate the show to end with misterys because it would be pointless if nobody ever finds out and it might mean spin-offs which would be a disaster.

Heh, that's the first thing I thought of when I started watching this season :)

I'm almost positive the plane crash and hopefully the hatch will be explained by the end of this season...

Hopefully it'll all pick up in January when the hiatus is over
