Really stuck for food here, nothings filling me really.
[Im vegeterian] Ive been on just Fruits[mostly apples] and Vegs [Salads only] ,
I dont eat anything with much carbs really, no bread etc. Only skimmed Milk in Coffee and canderal for sugar. No butter, No eggs etc.

Just a question on rice, they seem to be bad carbs and too much intake might lead to storage of fat, any other subsitutes ? TOFU ?

just trying to lose some weight, around 56-57kg, BMI seems to be healthy, but id like to lose some anyway. I go gym every weekday [and on that note, i spend most time on the tredmill ? would the bike be better ?]

    Thanks.

pulses, grains and nuts will fill you up. rice is fine but make it brown, same with pasta. wholemeal/ nutty bread gets broken down slower and keeps you full longer. make nuts unsalted and unprocessed. definitely no honey-coated variety. :p

ever tried porridge for brekkie? magic. keeps you nice and toasty adn full til your mid-morning snack.

carbs aren't 'bad' they just get overeaten. carbs are fundamental to a balanced diet. don't overeat fruit, they're high in sugar, albeit natural.

try and look back over the forum, lots of similar threads around with some good advice.

you have very little protein in your diet, protein is essential
you have no essential fats or fat of any sort! your body needs fat and if you stop consuming fats and protein your body go's into starvation mode and you wont lose any fat as your body will fight to keep it as it thinks you are facing starvation
your probably doing too much training and consuming too little quality food, your bodys probably breaking down muscle to use as energy(if you lose muscle your body is more likely to store fat)
you should only be losing a half pound of fat a week if you weigh 56kg at 56kg you should be consuming around 1800 calories a day, with 30% fat 30%protein 40% carbs, this is 300 underthe amount of calories that is need to maintain your weight ,combine this with all the exercise you are doing you will loseover half a pound of fat a week.

Your metabolism is being retarded because you're not eating enough.

To accelerate your metabolism you need to do the following:
    Eat more protein
    Eat more frequently
    Get more muscle on you

This will also make dieting a hell of a lot easier. You are starving yourself at the moment. I know you're a veggie but at least eat something! Take omelettes (with only 1 yolk an whatever amount of whites - personally I use 12 large egg whites!), nuts (the oils in these actually help weight loss, linolene I think they're called), and other non-meat protein sources.

Also, some good fat loss products that I DON'T SELL (to all the naysayers!!!) that don't use caffeine etc are available. A really good one you can get from the states is called sesathin. Look it up and the other diet products that co. do.

also do some resistance training, fat lose is vastly greater with a combination of cardio ad resistance training than cardio alone.threadmill is fine for burning fat but its your diet that will be most important in gettin to your target weight. i assume you are girl? try curves ladies gyms and do the running as well but increase your protein intake(maybe drink a pint of skimmed milk a day this contains 20grams protein or a protein shake) increase healthy fat consumption, omega 3(flax seed oil),olive oil and consume whole grain carbs such as whole grain bread ,brown rice, basmati rice, sweet potatoes, corn etc
you will get nowhere the way you are going now so you have to change what your doing.

Thanks for the input, i'll look more into it, im not a girl by the way.
I pretty much got motivated by christian bale where he lost all his weight for his role in the machinist by just eating apples and tuna a day. And running ofcourse.

your bmi really is in the normal range, in fact towards the lower end of it. now before anyone starts saying that bmi means *f* all, i know, i know, for lot of people it means nothing (myself included). but the OP doesn't seem to do any weights and so his bmi is probably quite relevant.

OP from teh sounds of it you need to tone up more than lose weight, and you'll do this with a good resistance programme alongside the cardio. talk to the staff who work at your gym, try and incorporate weights into your gym sessions about three times a week. doing weights will increase your muscle mass- muscle is an active tissue, it requires calories to exist and so will help you lose 'weight' faster than cardio. the benefits of weights are numerous- improving posture, general well-being, strength, you'll look toned and healthy. doing weights doesn't necessarily mean bulking up- most people find bulking quite a hard thing to do.

christian ate tuna=protein ,you need a proper diet as i stated above, if you gain some muscle it will be much easier to lose fat.

if you eat eggs egg whites are a great source of protein, but you would have to eat a lot of them every day to get sufficient protein.each egg white contains 5grams protein you should be taking in over a 100grams a day.a litre of skimmed milk = 34grams protein, buy some protein supplements like whey protein. if you arent getting sufficient protein/nutrition your wasting your time with weights and running.

Hi Placebo, I'll comment on some things and see if that helps any.

Fruits are usually very high in sugar except for regular melon and berries, which will up the carbs, increase the insulin level from your pancreas and store it as fat. Get rid of the Canderal as it is nothing but aspartame which will only affects the neurons in your brain and give you lesions. That stuff is deadly. Try Splenda.

Just a question on rice, they seem to be bad carbs and too much intake might lead to storage of fat, any other subsitutes ? TOFU ?

Try brown rice as it's filling and not like white rice which is bleached and processed with the nutritional content of cardboard.

Don't touch tofu. It's made from soy and it'll only up your estrogen level, and you don't want that even if you're a girl.

just trying to lose some weight, around 56-57kg, BMI seems to be healthy, but id like to lose some anyway. I go gym every weekday [and on that note, i spend most time on the tredmill ? would the bike be better ?]

If you want to lose weight, you need to be eating a good amount of protein. If you don't like meat or chicken because of the junk in them, look for free range, or meat which is hormone free.

If it's because you gag when you eat animal products, buy some whey protein. That's loaded with protein, but meat and eggs are your best source of protein.

You need to keep your overall intake of carbs at below 25% of your total food intake, and don't worry about fat. Read Greg Ellis' materials. He's done all the science for you. You just have to apply it and it'll work for you.

If you go the low fat nonsense, you'll burn more muscle than fat and then you'll look gaunt once you've lost the weight but if you keep your eating like I mentioned above, you'll burn more fat and build muscle. This will also keep you from the loose skin situation, which only makes money for plastic surgeons and scars you up unnecessarily.

    Thanks.

Hope I've been able to help.
