It was a pretty great gig. The songs sounded a lot rockier than they do on the album. The band in particular the two main singers were visibly intoxicated. But they were good, very good, very tight when t hey were playing. The guitarist, did some amount of headshaking, it was incredible, beat david gray hands down in the headshaking department.

didnt play modern world or grounds for divorce though which i thought were shoe ins to be played. But they played pretty much everything else.

Whelans was jammed for it, absolutely jammed, it was a case of find a spot and dont move, partly because your spot would be gone and partly because it was impossible to move.

the band were up for it. And instead of leaving the stage and coming back for an encore they just said this is the point where we normally leave the stage and you guys scream for more. But we are tight for time so if you want us to play more songs we will. They did, but that didnt stop the crowd calling for more for a about 5 minutes solid at the end, calling for them to come back out. they didnt.

all in all it was a great gig, played to a full appreciative house.

I thought it was good, nothing more nothing less, but hardly blew me away. They take the gimmicks out of The Arcade Fire (to a lesser extent) but produce better pop songs. Some nice keyboard melodies I might add.

I got a ticket soon after I arrived at the venue. Face value and all. Gig was jammers though.

I thought it was fairly immense.

Very rock, very intense. Bits of tambourine everywhere.

Got one of Dante's wind chimes when it came off and off the stage.

Twas really really good. Horribly packed though. What did yea think of 'The Strutts' - the support band ? "you are a very sexy audience...a very very sexy audience" :) heh

Man, the struts were a bunch of muppets, horrible horrible band.
They reminded me of a bad britpop throwback....I hope its the last I see or hear of them. The blonde dude looked like gareth from the office.

Well its not gonna be the last you'll see of The Strutts. They only got half a song to sound check and most other people were well impressed. Personally, I thought the sound wasnt as good as it could have been and the engineer in whelans is a dick and needs to do his job instead of being a moany so ans so.

Did wolfparade mention during their set if they're planning to come back? I'd say they might since it sold out and there was loads of extra demand (people all over the place lookin for tickets).

Eh, the Strutts were crap. And the lad who wouldn't get off the stage was an eejit. "Very seductive" is all well and good a) when you're the headline band or b) between songs, but not at the end when I'm waiting for Wolf Parade and you're delaying them by 30 seconds with your antics.

youch. Fairly negative opinions of the support there.

Nah, they are nice lads though.

Maybe it was the stage-persona that needs work, but you expect your support bands to:

Be on stage in their entirety when the gig starts.
Not call people seductive for 30 seconds.

I dunno man, they were on early enough.

And why get so frustrated about the "verry seductive" thing? It wasn't that big a deal. I mean, thirty seconds you say?

As for the band themselves, wasn't too keen on them, but they weren't awful or anything.

Agreed. Thought they were ok, didnt bug me, like a lot of support bands can. Have potential.

I'm not actually frustrated, it just seemed fairly silly, like.

    Anyway, good gig.
