    Hi,

Can anyone give me an extimate of the cost of putting a leather interior in my 2001 320Ci ? It came without leather but I would prefer to get leather for it.
Who in Ireland can do this (besides the BMW dealers who will charge an arm and a leg!)?

    Thanks

Theres a place in Santry called Cartronics who do work for dealers from what I've been told, but I haven't used them. Zenith in Clane are excellent too, have used them before for smaller work and its top quality.

I'd personally keep an eye on eBay and pick up a full interior that way.

Is the most expensive part not the fitting (labour) and not so much the leather itself?

I doubt it - leather costs an absolute fortune. Its about €300/400 per hide I think depending on quality, and the average car uses 4-5 hides from what I was told.

What colour leather are you after? Theres a good few full interiors available from different places like eBay / FAB etc that will cost about €1200 all in, and an afternoon of your time to fit.

Personally I'd let the car alone. You have lovely car with a lovely interior the way it is.

If you go for an aftermarket solution your interior is going to look like that of a taxi. €1200 is a very steep price to pay for seatcovers.

Perhaps you may be able to find a proper leather interior (i.e. entire seats and door panels) from a crashed car, you may need to travel to the UK though.

€1200 is what it would cost for a full interior, not seatcovers - getting entire seats and door panels is what I'd said in my previous post.

Fair enough, sounds very reasonable then. I would have thought you could blow 10k on new seats etc.

Yes my cousin had his 2002 320Ci kitted out in leather trim by one of those places in Dublin mentioned already. This included seats, door trim and other bits and pieces, I think I heard him mention the cost being in or around €1,500. I think the price varies on the type of car and the quality of leather you want.

Very expensive but the finished job was perfect, it looks like it came from the BMW factory.

Any chance you could give the exact name of the place that did it?

Get prices for original parts from somewhere like www.fabdirect.com before you pay someone to re-upholster your car.

I have seen Cartronics work and its first class. I've seen them do BMW's, Merc's, LandRovers and all look exactly like factory ! The stitching, colours and panels are all as factory !

Well worth it IMO although I think their prices have risen in the last 2 years !

My father got a leather interior for his E39 from FABdirect for 650 euro delivered. Not a bad price and he said they were very professional people to deal with. I'd go this route instead of getting the seats re-trimmed
