    Hello

Was in PC WORLD Galway today and saw a laptop for 545 or 550 euro. I didnt get a chance to look at its specs or anything and was wondering if anyone has seen the laptop I am talking about, i am not sure if its in other pc wprld stores nation wide but it seemed like a low price and it had a dvd rw and 40 gb hd....
Could anyone tell me anything about it, it was a black laptop, name, specs? etc

I am regretting not having looked at the specs on it now as it is a very low price fo a laptop
o and it also has windows xp if thats any help:P

If it was a Bentley or a Rolls I would say it was an excellent car. HTH

Check the papers... I've seen some ads (I think it was in The Star) for laptops in PCW around that price.

Only laptop I've seen that cheap was called a Patriot and from what I can remember the specs are so bad it would barley run XP

Yeah a laptop for that price, especially from PC World must be as outdated as the Hustle....

this is probably the one you saw,

very crappy, and you'd think that with such a low power processor as the VIA, that you'd get a decent battery life, but its only rated for about an hour.

    Via C3 proseccor 1.20 GHz

I wonder who even makes the procesccor. Must check it out but if people are afraid of celeron procesccors they'd run away from this screaming!

They are made by VIA technologies, who make motherboard chipsets, they have developed a following among some case modders, due to their low heat output, some only have an output of 0.1W at idle and about 20W under load.

Check out www.mini-itx.com to see some of the mods that people have done.

The drawbacks to the VIA C3 is the poor performance of the processor, it is based on the original Cyrix procesoors after all.:p

thanks. this was the one i saw, so it is bad, the price was good, i was wondering why

God help whoever buys that thing...

But it is true, VIA processors can be used for small devices such as home made GPS systems.

My first family pc was a Cyrix. Such a piece of crap it wasnt funny. I think it was a 133MNx (chip name or some ****) that ran at 100mhz. Man that computer was such a pain in the arse!
