Couldn't believe this when I read it. Not a huge rally fan, but knew of Richard Burns and was sad to hear of his passing at such a young age.

    RIP

    Couldn't believe it either.
He always was in the hyped shadow of McRae, but came good and became the only British World Champion.
I never even knew about his illness, and often wondered what happened to him. (not a huge Rally fan, but got into it as F1 just got boring).
    RIP

I remember hearing about his illness about a year a go but was still shocked to hear that he died!

    A joy to watch.
A master behind the wheel and such a genuine person outside the car.
I always hoped we'd see him in action again.

    RIP RB

Terrible news. I really hoped he'd recover. I was shocked this morning to hear the about this.

Awful thing to happen to someone so young and so talented.

    RIP

Thats a shock! :( Fierce competitor.... remember him draggin a conveyor belt to try and get his Peugeot into the Service park on the Safari Rally. He struggled with the car which had a collapased suspension, which was just outside the service area(which assistance couldnt be given until inside) and kept pushing and dragging it until he was timed out.

    RIP Richard Burns.

Sadly football is far more popular then rallying.
Was watching the news the day the sad news broke and sky news didn't mention anything about Burns.
ITV news had about 30 seconds on it.(well they do carry the sport)
Later on in the day Sky finally mentioned it. Maybe someone at sky was watching the competition and thought it worthy of a mention.
Sad really when a world champion doesn't get the respect they deserve
The best coverage I saw about it was on Euronews.

Amazing how much intrest was shown about a man who was such a great talent and threw his life away with drink, they showed the funeral of an alcoholic on tv for god sake, then there is a lad of of 34, former world rally champion, died because of a brain tumour, but up a fantastic fight against it but lost, he didint have a choice.....
