    Well, putting it simply:

Open up your PC case (make sure all cables are plugged out).

Connect the HardDrive to an IDE cable (normaly the skinny grey cable coming from the CDRom to the Motherboard. Theres a connector in the middle of the cable).

Connect the power to the HardDrive. Normaly one with a small plastic head with coloured wires connected to it. Make sure u take of the protective cap then plug it into the power slot.

You will know by looking at the back of the HDD how the cables go in and where.

Just go easy and dont force it, last you want is to break it.

When thats done, just format it using the option in Windows. PC is dead slow at the mo, so I cant say for sure which one it is but I guess someone will get here before I do and tell ya :)

Hope the instructions were of some use. Perhaps someone can explain better!

i'm presuming it's an IDE drives. You should have 3 jumpers, master\slave and cS(cable select), set it to either CS or slave. there should a 2nd connection on the cable to your original Hd. Put that connection into the back of the hd and hook up your power. check it in setups, then boot into windows. In windows go control panel\admin tool\ computer management and select disk management from that. That show your added, you'll then have to format it for your XP to see it.

Not showing in disk management? reboot your system go into bios setups, should be F2 or del key to enter them. check system info and that will tell you what hds the board is seeng. see is it seeing both, could be your jumpers.

if they're both in setups, jumpers are fine. the 2nd hd should show up as undefined without a drive letter. any chance of you taking a screen shot of the diskmanagement app and uploading it to imageshack.us
