Where have I gone wrong here

Bought a giga-byte k8n sli mobo the other night and after a bit of head scratching got it up and running . the only part that still has me baffled is my sata HD . On the taskbar when you have a USB item attached you get a little icon to 'safely remove hardware' . I have nothing connected by usb but this icon is there and when I click on it it shows my sata drive and askes me if I want to stop it ?

    How can this be ?

And while I am here , is there any set way of working out the connections for the front panel . Which is minus and which is plus . On the plastic part there is a triangle and an 's' on each set of wires , is this supposed to help me ?

    Thanks in advance

    John.

The same thing happens with my Sata drive. One thing is to make sure you have it optimized for performance as opposed to quick removal. Don't know how to get rid if it though. Can't really follow what you're saying in the second part of that post.

Thank f*** other people have seen it.

the only thing i was thinking was, ye're boards are Sata2 right? Did you use the sata driver disc?, i never did, SP2 XP picks up sata2 drives but any SP before SP2 that does'nt. My FD was wanked so i never hit F6 during install.
