Yeah I play around wit wireless in my house and work. The netopia is a pretty good piece of kit as long as it has up to date firmware, but seen as you got it the other day, it does.

Lots of people recommend that all your networking kit come from the same manufacturer.. i.e. try and get the netopia usb adapter. But in my experience waht ever you have should be good. The only trouble I've ever had was with some linksys cards. but got around those problems. SMC are pretty good and 3com. Netgear are pretty good too.

So even if your kit is a mish mash you shouldn't really have any problems... and yeah I think eircom sell usb wireless adapters... but buy from someone else please.... I dont mind eircom, but buy computer kit from a real supplier!!

If your PC is near the eircom router, save your money and just run an ethernet cable to it.

Do you lose any performance between wireless and direct connection via Ethernet connection. ?

You shouldn't, but you might. :)

If you have the option of ethernet, then you should just use it and save yourself the time / hassle / money.

If you do decide to use ethernet, don't forget to lock down the wireless side of things.
