    Greetings all,
I have a dimmer switch in one of the rooms in my house and its not working anymore. It sounds (clicks on and off) fine and its turning the bit thats supposed to turn but the light just stays on constantly, it wont switch off. The other dimmer switches in the house are all working fine and this one was too until recently. The bulb went and I got a new bulb and it doesn't work properly since. Any suggestions????
    Cheers.

Is the new bulb a fluorescent bulb?

No its a normal bulb. I also tried a bulb from one of the other rooms in there and its on all the time as well so its not the bulb. Just opened up the dimmer switch and surprise, surprise, I don't know what the f*** i'm looking at. Looks fine. No obvious burns or loose wires or anything that a layman would spot. Afraid Im gonna have to get a sparks in. Noooooooooooooooooooooo.

Just change the dimmer switch. AFAIK it is just basically a variable resistor. This could fail and the "dimmer" will no longer work while the switch would. If you are competant enough to knock of the fuse and replace the dimmer switch with another one then that would be worth a try before you call out a Sparkey. If you are not confident doing this then call the Sparks. Dont take a risk.
