Dual Layer DVD disks

Hi, I'm interested in these new 8.5Gb disks but just wondering if i can use them with any DVD-R drive? or does it have to specifically specify dual layer?

You have to get one of the new dual layer drives to be able to write to the second layer. I'm pretty sure you can still write to the first layer on a regular recorder.

I have a dual layer recorder, will all readers read both layers though?? will an 8.5 (I thought it was 9.4??) GB DVD work in a DVD player like a PS2 for home movies and the likes?

it's 8.5, and it's aka DVD-9 ..have a look at a film DVD that you own or rent -on the back of the box..

Does anyone know where you can get them fairly cheap as they are really expensive. I know Komplett sell a 5 pack for around €25 I think.
