    Stealth5.jpg

Sorry for the rather ****ty picture... I'll try and get better ones tomorrow.

Here's one of the pics I got from the dealer though:

    Stealth2.jpg

What can I say though... My custom built guitar, my baby, my dream guitar, it has finally arrived! I was like a little kid at christmas this morning, I kept peeking out the window in anticipation of the delivery guy.

Well, since around 2:00 today, I've been playing her. Tuned her up, and set the action for how I like it, because it was very, very low indeed. She's currently tuned to A, and christ, the sound I get our of her can only be described as "Immense!"

For those that don't know, the specs are:

    7 String "Stealth" Model
    Mahogany Body
    Neck-Through Maple
    Ebony Fretboard with no Inlays
    Grover locking tuners
    Tonepros Tune-O-Matic bridge
    Bone nut
    Vol, 3-way, Tone
DiMarzio Evolution and Air Norton pickups

All I can say is wow, wow and wow again. ****ing hell tbh! I just love how this baby sounds! The combination of Pickups and wood seems to work like nothing I've heard before, it's pure magic! I swear to god, I've never heard harmonics this good on a guitar before, they absolutely ****ing scream!

The workmanship on this baby is seriously something aswell. I've never felt a guitar like this either, the fretwork, the neck, everything about it just tells me that it is built like a ****ing tank. My Ibanez in comparison feels like a toy! When I picked up my Stealth again it just said to "Yeah, I'm the real ****ing thing, and don't you ever forget that!"

Quality. Absolute pure quality. The bone nut alone is so superior to anything I've had before, the electronics sound amazing, there's no feedback or squeal that I get from other guitars, and it just feels awesome. I'm going to open up the control cavity and have a look at the wiring after a while too. ;)

**** me, it's just an absolute shredmachine of a guitar.

I actually really like it the more i see it. Its probably the only BC Rich shape I like. Well done for having the balls to splash out on your dream guitar. I personally wouldnt buy anything more "metal" than my Gibson SG but i really appreciate the craftsmanship and beauty of that beast.

What would you go for then?

Seriously, I'm not going to tell you how much it cost, because it's quite frankly, obscene. I ordered it through www.mycousinjays.com who is an absolutely top guy to deal with altogether.

That's quite alright man, I've played the Fireball before, and it most certainly took my fancy. Forcefully. :v:

Well, I have to say, I can't stand anything metal at all at all! I'm such a prude really....love trad, folk and well I suppose rock, but certainly not metal.... I even don't like the typical Metal guitars you see.....but I have to say, that is probably the most aesthetically pleasing guitar I have seen in a long time! Congratulations...I actually think that is pretty ***kin cool!! May you have many hours of perfect bliss blasting that thing through your new amp....when you get it!!!
I myself have a custom made McIlroy A35c on its way in January, which cost an obscene amount of money to me too! So I can understand the exceitement with which you greeted the postman!! Lucky boy!!!

Not into metal guitars myself i usually think they are ugly but this is defo an exception, very beautiful, enjoy it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Christ, I tell you people, this guitar is truly a force to be reckoned with. Honestly, I was playing The Philosopher this morning, and the way some of the fast, palm muted rythms came out was incredible! Likewise some of the downpicked sections, mother of god! I have never in my life heard a guitar with such bite, such attack! It's quite unreal! :v:

Thanking you. I certainly am enjoying it. :D

    2 Questions

(1). Hows the pickups on the Low B (or A in your case) as I was considering the same pickup combo on both my 7's and looking for something with real clarity and mite (for lack of a better word) on the Low b ?

(2). Why havnt you taken more pictures for me to oggle at the guitar? Forshame!!!!!!:v:

(1). I think the Evolution sounds astonishing on the lower strings, there's a kind of growl there that I've not heard before. It sounds very articulate altogether, not the least bit muddy either. The Air Norton I use for cleans, or solo parts, and that just absolutely sings. Keep in mind though that my choice of woods play a part in the sound, such as the ebony fretboard having a lot more bite than Rosewood for example, or mahogany being quite rich in mids.

(2). My Camera sucks donkeys. I tried taking a few pictures already, and only one of them actually looked like anything, which you can see at the start of this post. The rest are pics I got from the dealer. I'm going to try get some more, better pics at another stage, but I might be getting a decent new camera at some stage, so you might have to wait untill then. :v:

My 7's are both American Basswood which pretty much rules out the EMG 707 (plus its shape is slightly diff, so it may require routing) or the 81-7 as actives and basswood apparently arent the best combo. Im still deciding whether between the Blaze II or the Evo-7, and between the Air Norton 7 and Tone Zone 7. If I cant decide Ill prob buy all 4 and stick the Blaze/Norton in one 7 and Evo/Tone in the other :v: If only I could get the petrucci Dimarzios :(

Well, first of all, the Tone Zone is a bridge pickup, and I've actually heard some bad things about the 7 string version of it, it's supposed to be quite muddy altogether compared to it's 6 string counterpart.

Second of all, the Air Norton is pretty much what Petrucci uses in neck position. Before he was using Music Man guitars, his Ibanez ones had either Tone Zone or Steve's Special in bridge position & Air Norton pickups in the 6 strings, and Blaze & Air Norton in his 7s. By all accounts the "Custom" pickups in his Music Mans (Or should that be Music Men?) are pretty much the same.

You also might want to try the Blaze Custom, which pretty much everyone on www.sevenstring.org (Who mostly have Ibanez guitars) absolutely swear by, aswell as swearing by the Air Norton for neck position. I'm hopefully getting some new pickups for christmas and I'm getting a Blaze Custom & Air Norton set for my Ibanez 7 string.

    Hope all that helps.

    True...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 936 ✭✭✭Beecher

Well, first of all, the Tone Zone is a bridge pickup

Cheers for that, Somehow I was convinced it was a bridge/neck pickup so thats saved me from a potential faux pas
    Hope all that helps.

Hugely, cheers man, I think I know what im gonna get now :)

(by now I mean right now, new credit card came today and it would be a waste of some guys hard effort sending it out to me if I wasnt to use it)

Blaze/Norton for the Floyd Equipped 7, and Evo/Norton for the Hardtail. :D

Cool. Regular Blaze, Blaze II, or Blaze Custom?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 936 ✭✭✭Beecher

Regular blaze im thinking, cant find enough info about the Blaze II to risk it and with the Blaze customs seemingly natural overdrive I'd find it real hard to get a clean out of it through my amp as my preamp has a shared Gain control between the clean and lead channels :(

Allthough the cleans from my Vox Tonelab through the Engl poweramp are frankly unbelievable so I could always get the custom and an a/b box, use the ENGL preamp for distortion, the tonelab for clean. ARG! Im gonna have to think on it and maybe thrawl through ss.org and hopefully get a conclusive result!

Well if you're unsure, mull over it some more. I took 3 months before I finally decided on what I wanted out of my custom built guitar.

Meh I'll have come to some conclusion tonite and just go for it, with the high standard of said pickups I doubt i'll be in anyways disapointed no matter what combo I go for. :v:

Well personally, I'm going for the Blaze Custom for bridge position in my Ibanez, as it's supposedly a very balanced pickup. If that helps at all.

Well, at the very least I've been playing a hell of a lot more guitar these days. So much so, I'm quite literally shredding my left index finger. Seriously, the skin is breaking and it's catching on the strings and tearing.
Hurts a little, but I'm playing on reguardless!
    Patricide wrote:

Not really I'm afraid, I've a distinct lack of recording software, or any means to actually record.
