Good Photography Books?

A friend is buying a Canon EOS 350D.

I was hoping to get them a good book about photography so that they can learn the theory about exposure, apature speeds and all that stuff.

They have used digital cameras before but not something in this range. They understand how to get the files to PC etc. and know their way around photoshop so the book wouldn't need to focus on that area.

I was thinking of The Digital SLR Handbook http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1904705367/qid=1132596929/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_11_3/202-9584221-7287815

Has anyone used it or have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

Michael Freeman's books are generally very good, though I'm not familiar with that one in particular. Check out Understanding Exposure http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0817463003/ref=pd_sim_b_dp_4/202-5482206-4282250
as well. It's on my to buy list, and as a very good rep.

That does seem good alright. Appears to cover everything too.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

Have a look at Digital Photography by Tom Ang. It does a lot of the PC bit though ....
