    hey, just finished updating to windows xp service pack 2
    and when my pc restarted i couldn't get better colour quality than 4 bit and my screen resolution is 640 by 480.
    anyone got any idea on how to sort this out. troubleshoot was no help

    uninstall, then reinstall your video card drivers id say.

    oh man i dont know anything about computers, its a pc i got of my girlfriends mother, was working fine till i installed the updates

    Ok, go to start menu, control panel, then appearance and themes. On that click on change screen resolution. Then at the bottom corner click on advanced and then click on adapator, that shopuld tell you your video card.

    Vgasave??, *scratches head.

    Ok try this, click on properties, and then on that screen click on driver and from that try update driver and see what happens.

    no option to update driver
    but did a quick google on vgasave and turns out its a windows default thing so im following a few online guides at the minute. we'll see what comes of that.

    yeah thats what Windows defaults to, plug and play me arse :) anyway maybe you can find the driver cd that probably came with the computer and use that to install the driver.

    do a system restore to before sp2 went on and see what graphics adapter you are using and download the latest drivers for it , then use sp2

    just uninstalled the update, and think i'll stay clear of all that from now on.
