play.com sterling/euro difference

something i'd forgotten about but thought might be a timely reminder.

when buying something from play.com make sure and buy the item at the sterling price.
i just bought gta. in sterling its listed at 29.99, and in euro they list it as 47.99.

the actual sterling/euro conversion is something like 43.8989, so i saved myself a few euro by buying in sterling.

Yeah and never buy anything off www.cdwow.ie either. It's the same site as www.cdwow.com with higher prices. I can't believe anybody actually buys off that site or off play.com with the prices in euro.

Im one of them people who do buy in euros. Only found out the pounds thing a few weeks back. So its a good reminder as im not the only person who has done it and are still doing it.

Yeah, youre gonna get charged at the rate your credit card uses. And Im sure you all know, they dont always use the most fair rate.

And of course, it all varies from 1 credit card to another.

Is there not some rule that you dont pay credit card conversion unless the currency is outside the eurozone??? I'm only wondering because whenever I buy something from play at £19.99 it comes on the credit card as £19.99.

Not necessarily, pro evo 5 on cdwow.com = £18=€26 delivered. Cdwow.ie, €23.99 delivered

but it will then show the EURO equivilant beside it.
The 19.99 is just so you know what you paid for your goods in the local ccy.
It would only show 19.99 GBP on your cc statement if you have a GBP address and are billed in GBP.

I bought some items last week and the rate was around 1.52 euro to £1.
