Repeating off books...

Hey, I'm repeating 1st year off books, and I was wondering if anybody has any tips or advice about doing so. Coz I'm a BIT nervous about it. I've already arranged it with my tutor & the departments, so I'm sorted. It's just what to do NOW is the question...

No specific queries, but any info would be useful. Thanks!

Just try to keep strict with yourself. As you're not going to lectures and **** you'll have to keep yourself in check. Keep the head down and you should be grand.

Study, I'm repeating (not off books). And it's been a kick up the arse. Be vigilant, restrict your drinking to infrequent "reward" sessions. What I mean is cut down on the impromptu sessions, they will much up your will and routine.
Consider yourself to have a full time job, and that job is to study and do well in your exams..

If you're going to study after drinking, be sure to drink before an exam. You remember things easier in the same state of mind as when you learned them. YEs I'm drinking now. Hooeay!

Been there with the off books repeating thing. What are you studying?

TBH, i got a job and was busy with other stuff as well, so didn't really think about the exams until January.(i don't advise doing that!) Chase down any notes you may be missing now, and if you need to be using books from the library your tutor can arrange for you to have a library readers card - you can't take books out but you can get into the library.

When March/April rolls around contact the exams office/talk to your tutor and make sure that you are registered for the correct exams - this gets messy if your course has changed in any way this year.

Also, you can email ISS and set up forwarding on your student email account for the year. Going off books means that you can't access the account (at least if did for me), but there's an option to set up forwarding on the mymail page.

Good luck with it, and feel free to pm me with any questions you may have.

Yeah, it doesn't help that I actually DO have a full time job right now. On top of everything else. But that'll only be up until Xmas - then I go part time, no bones about it... I'm not that big on drink really - I'm just really, really lazy. Or was, anyway. Yes I've really changed.... *shifty eyes*

Hey, thanks for the advice. I'm studying English Lit TSM [added luxury of essays having to be handed in...]. I've got my library readers card from my tutor, so I'm all set. It's weird that my college account hasn't shut down yet, though. I wonder when it'll go... hmm.
