PS2 on Wireless Network

I've been trying to connect my PS2 to my 802.11b network. I got a wireless bridge and I've connected it up.

It connects to my router fine and I can get online with the PS2 but when I try to actually start a game with someone it says that port 3658 has been blocked by my firewall.

Thing is, there's no firewall set up on my router.

Any ideas on how to get this working?

    Thanks.

    Whats the router?

    It's a Netopia 3300 series, I think.

    And the bridge?

Does the bridge have a static IP? Perhaps you could try forwarding the port to the IP address?

I posted this on the Pro Evolution soccer site for playin that game, but it fixed a problem I had on burnout too so you should try it!

"Firstly im with eircom and I have the caymen netopia 3341 smart modem and on XP!

    http://dsl-support.eircom.net/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/&/?St=89&E=0000000000002407184&K=3509&Sxi=15&Problem=obj(7574)

Go here and update your modem to the new look netopia! Cuz thats where I did it from!

Next go to 192.168.1.254 in your address bar then click on expert mode on the side...

The configure on the left... advanced... NAT.

When in there go to Define Custom Service, the click next on the page that pops up (should be on port forwarding not trigger ports or whatever).

Next for service name just put in PS2 or PES or something. Global Port range is 3658 - 3658. And base host port also 3658. then select UDP, and not TCP, click next.

You'll then go back to the NAT screen, scroll the service name thing down till you find the one you created, PES or whatever u named it, Click it, dont enable it yet!!

NB. Turn on your PS2 and connect with a game, anything, even the central station thing, just so you modem no's your connecting!

Now click enable for the setting you created, when you do this it should say "Select host service" one of them is your PC and the other will be your PS2, click the one that is your PS2, for me, my PC has a name, and the PS2 was just an IP address. So make it your PS2 and Enable it!

Now that thats done, Restart you modem by using the button on the left of the screen!

Next throw on your PS2 with PES5 in it, Go to network, but before you whip out your network connection from your memory card press the circle button and put it on port 3658 and not auto! Should work now!!! Bam!

Wish you all luck with this! Any problems just reply and I'll see if I can answer."

    Try it!

That's absolutely brilliant man, thanks. I was actually trying Pro Evo 5 as well, and it got stuck in that too.

I'll let you know how it goes, thanks again!

EDIT: Any chance you could PM me that full URL?

    Sorry, I fixed that link!

    Thanks again Julez.

I did everything you said, and now when I'm in PES5 I get much further. I can actually get into the lobby when before it got stuck on "Detecting Network Settings" or whatever.

Now, when I go to start a game with someone or start one myself, we both choose ready, then it starts to load but eventually just says "Unable to establish Connection" or "Connection Dropped". The point is, I'm getting much further than I was before, I'm convinced it's just a tiny problem now.

I may need to just mess around with the NAT settings a little more.

After I've got this all sorted out, I'll have to give you a game of Pro Evo!

Try putting your firewall on your modem down to low, think that happened to me too! On the modem now, not the computer!

Does the PSP support Secure WiFi connections? I use WPA PSK on my network, does the PSP support it?

Yeah, apparently it now supports WPA, once you have the new firmware installed.

    Mine is a PC problem

I recently changed from Eircom to Smart and while HL2 works online on PES5 I am just hanging at the "checking networks" screen with pes5.
The wireless router I got with Smart is a Huawei 3-com dsl
    any help much appreciated.

http://support.smarttelecom.ie/forums/ I'd give this a try too anarchist, its the smart telecom support board so maybe if its an ISP problem they would have good knowledge of it. Hope this helps
