I'm a 3rd year Business Studies student, having this year specialised in Economics and Finance. After 4th year I'll be graduating and will be looking to start work. I'm very interested in economics and finance in general, and have become more and more interested in the idea of working as an Economic Analyst. Not to put too fine a point on it, my main queries would be:

Where is a good firm to work as an Economic Analyst? I was mainly thinking of investment banks in Dublin, but if there are other options I'd consider them equally.

Where is a good place to get summer work experience in the area? Does anyone know of any good internship programmes? I'm from Waterford so firms in the south-east would be the handiest for me.

As one day I'd like to go into lecturing, I'm considering doing a Masters before I go into work and lose the study mentality. Even though most Irish universities' economics/finance-related masters programmes are offered to people with "general business degrees" and good academic records, I've also heard that people who haven't specifically studied an economics/finance degree have trouble getting into masters programmes of this kind. Does anyone know anything about this?
