How to promote a gig?

My band has a couple of gigs over the next month or so. One in Dublin and one in Athlone. Is there a good way we can promote them on the web? Has anybody done this before? We're going to do a few posters, but everybody does this nowadays.

A good start would be to tell us all about them on boards.ie
You've got the right audience here.

Have you tried emailing hotpress? they have a gig guide, don't they?

The only other good gig guide that I knoe is pubfinder. I think you can submit entries. Click for their Gig Guide.
