    Hi,
I need to get a certification as a personal trainer just to satisfy an insurance policy. What is the quickest easiest way to do so. What is the system here, is there a registrar of personal trainers and is there some way of finding personal trainer trainers?
    Any ideas appreciated
    Thanks
    Mickk

yeah, i doubt you can just buy one or something, i presume you have to do a full time course and qualify as a trainer.

Loads of co's offering certification fast, now whom they are recognised by is another matter. Do a google and get a mail order one from the US. If your knowledge is good you could sit the ace exam.

I searched google for info about the ace personal trainer exam but it seems to be mostly american? How do you go about sitting it here?

ISSA course online.$400 its much cheaper than the irish certs and quality is better. plus quicker to get and own time. irish courses are inadequate the information they teach is terrible. not just outdated but downright wrong!

remember if its just the letters you want then any course is fine as long as you have the money and time.

f good knowlegde is what you seek than look abroad because ireland was never the isle of saints and scholers, in terms of personal training..

also irish certs are dear and not acceptable abroad!

heres most of them based on content of info and how they are recognised internationally(for jobs etc) in terms of quality. and cost. and time to do etc

ACE- knowlege mediocre, letters good, cost high, timely
ISSA - knowlege good (i think, never saw the manuals etc), letters good, low cost, in own time
NCEF - knowledge bad/false, letters bad 'cept in ireland of course, timely and costly
CSCS - the cream of the crop. need a degree first i think, its what all the top strength and conditioning coaches have, f***ing A1. can take the test anytime. london. must be very knowledgeable first though.

    Hi,

I got this course over the net back in March, I found it quite good, well structured, and pretty relevant.

    http://www.nestacertified.com/

They have a Personal Trainer and Advanced Personal Trainer course, (I have only done the Personal Trainer one myself, the Advanced course is still sitting on my shelf). Basically you do the material, answer the LOADS of questions, and then send them back to the US, after about 3 weeks, if succesful, you get the certificate back.

I personally found it a bit hard, although I have been lifting for years, and a regular keep-fit fanatic, I had to keep rechecking everything as the course seems to be kept updated quite regualarly.

    Hope it helps.

    :)
