if they're mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 then just burn to vcd or svcd respectively with nero. there's no loss of quality

sorry, it's actually xvid to dvd.

do i need to convert the xvid to mpeg first?

i use tmpgenc to convert xvid to mpeg and then use the outputted files with tmpgenc dvd author to make the dvd.

ps: i made a slight mistake in my first post. there's no loss of quality, depending on the length of the video
