Does anyone have any experience with this online music store?
I ordered a Jackson DKMG in transparent black just a few moments ago.
A bit late to be asking I know!!

Sorry if this didn't warrant a new topic but I gave a look around before resorting to starting a new one.

A friend of mine got his RG from there, it took a few weeks to get here, possibly 2 or 3 months, cant exactly remember because it was 2 years ago.

Mate of mine ordered an amp from there. Got it without problems iirc. They seem to not have a lot of stuff in stock a lot of the time.

I bought a double bass pedal from them and it was grand, delivered very quickly and all.
My friend was unlucky with shipping from them. He bought a guitar (also a Jackson, I think) and it arrived wrecked. Can't remember exactly what was wrong with it (this was a while ago) but they took it back without any hassle and sent him out a replacement

Ok thanks. As long as it get's here in good condition and within reasonable time it's all good. I wanted to get a Schecter Hellraiser but can't find one to order anywhere. Soundcontrol.co.uk was as close as I came but they don't deliver outside England.

If anyone else has anything else about the site I'd appreciate the feedback.:)

ordered two amps off 'em about a year ago, one was broken, no hassle getting it returned only i had to pay for posting it back to england, i think thats the norm with returning anything ove the net......is it.

Not if its damaged! They company is obliged to replace it at no extra cost, ie not charging you carriage in/outwards on returns!

bought my gibson off them, ordered and then 2 days later it came. top notch service

Haven't gotten anything from them myself but I know a few people who've gotten stuff from them with no problems at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 907 ✭✭✭Den_M

    Thanks for the info.
Seems like they're pretty reliable so. It's the first time I've ordered stuff on the net and I'm just a bit anxious. Theres no indication of whether the stuff you've ordered is in stock or not so I guess that will affect the delivery time.

give them an email or a ring first, to check stock.

If I find a time machine lying around somewhere I will...Like a dumbass I ordered before thinking of such things. I've inquired since asking if it is in stock and if it isn't, how long will it take to get it in.

It's actually a tricky one. If it's a warranty return then you usually do have to pay carriage returning it to them - it's part of the standard warranty agreement. If you're returning on the grounds that it's unserviceable and it's your Consumer Right to have it replaced/repaired/refunded then you can pretty much get them to pay the return. Of course, that assumes that your consumer rights are either applicable or enforcable in their country. If they choose to **** you over, there isn't a lot you can do about it unless you want to spend quite a lot of money on legal action.

I'm bumping this thread because I just found out that my order from GAK.co.uk has been cancelled. Apparently the details on my credit card didnt match the address entered on the site. They only ship to the address of the card holder. Which is fair enough. But I entered everything correctly.
Anyone ever have this problem? I dont know whether to re-order or not. It shouldn't get a different result as I'd be entering the same details.

Loads of times, mismatching postal codes (I dont have a postal code), using 01 instead of +3531 for a phone num.

But postal code is a required field.
I put a - in there. Would that have ****ed the order up. This is the third I had cancelled. Im well pissed off at this stage!

    Have you phoned them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 907 ✭✭✭Den_M

Didn't phone. Emailed a couple of times but they take their time replying. Might ring altogether.

I have never had a problem ordering off gak, but I have had my card refused elsewhere over postal code. I usually use 000 myself.

Their prices are really good. I'd go ahead with them over thomann tbh if I found something cheaper on their site. They seem a fairly good company and a lot of people have ordered from them

They said the order was advised to be cancelled by my credit card company. Because the address GAK.co.uk had didnt match the address they had on file.
This is bull****, I rang my credit card company today. They said they approved the transaction, that they didnt mention anything about addresses. This means GAK.co.uk now have the authorisation code to debit my account.
I've emailed them demanding an explanation.
Any reason this could have happened?

Hey folks have any of you who have ordered from them been caught for import duty or vat? Or is it included like the way it is with thomann?

    Cheers!

As with anything purchased within the EU you will not be charged additional import duty or vat.

    5 year old thread.

Boards should take a look at how these old threads can be dragged up. It was probably on display at the bottom of the newer poster boards.ie page.

I ordered a Marshall Dsl401 from there, maybe 3 years ago? anyway, 2 weeks later I walked in home and their was a guitar-like box sitting in the my boiler room (Side of the house)

Low and behold they had sent me a Fender RI 72 telecaster instead of the amp. (Worth 500 more than the marshall.)

Turns out they had 3 orders from Ireland and managed to mix them up big time.

But within a week they had collected the guitar and delivered the amp and sent me an apology.

That was a good first impression :p

Other than that any time I've ordered they have been good and quick, always within a week or two.

I'd recommend them personally and you never know, you just might get something better than you ordered lol

    edit;

I could have too, as he dropped it in without letting anyone sign for it, so I could just say "What guitar?" But nah, he might have lost he's job over it so that wouldnt be cool at all!
