Hey guys, i work for a company and am just looking into sms advertisement. Where can i get information on using peoples name and numbers for advertising (i.e who regulates it?) and do you have to get peoples consent prior to texting or can i text them and just let them know how to unsubscribe?! Thanks

If this is a marketing idea you're pitching I'd advise against it. I personally HATE spam email/txts ESPECIALLY if someone has sold my info and I've been added to some mailing list without my consent .. expect irate calls from your targets :mad:

Yeah its for my mums business, thing is i will only be sending messages to existing or past customers no one else, and only if they want to be notified of new courses or special offers etc, i will also make it clear on how to unsubscribe. I dont want to p*ss people off

Ahhh ok..that's a bit different then. Maybe have an option when they first register for the course or whatever that says "tick here if you do not wish to be contacted with information on new courses and special offers" to cover yourself then.

yeah thats what i intend to do, but can i use all the other peoples name and numbers who are past pupils without their consent? but let them know how to unsubscribe?

The Data Protection Act and Data Protection Commisioner would cover this kind of thing.
