    Hi,

Did a restart on my PC last night and it freezes on startup. Killed power a cople of times, and it still freezes in teh same spot. On the screen i get 'intel pentium 2.8...Memory 1048. At the bottom, it has hit Del to enter setup. (but that doesn't work). and it just sits there. There is a beep off the motherboard ust before it freezes. Does that mean the motherboard might be ok?

    Appreciate any advice.

    Thanks,

    D.

The number of beeps means something different on every motherboard. If you can count the beeps - something like long beep , long beep, short beep, short beep, or whatever and then google for your motherboard and find out what the code means.

Did you change any hardware recently?

No. No hardware changes in ages. The beep is the same beep it always gave when it worked ok.

    plug out all usb devices
Have you more than one memory module - if so try with one then the other

I'll try that when I get home. I just think it's really strange that I can't even get into the BIOS.

What os? Try imediately on start up going into safe mode i.e. press F8 and then turning on. Sounds to me as if you may need to flash your bios. Rare these days but I've seen it happen.

Check your mother board manual - it should tell you how in there or what the jumper settings are...

What OS it has has nothing to do with it....
And again jumpers have nothing to do with bios flashing.

OP we need more info.. Mbo make RAM make etc and then w'll see what we can do..
