    I reckon it'd be tight.

    Check the PSU Calculator out.

Make sure it's a "true" 350W PSU too. Some say that, but they're effectively lying. Edit: If it's the one with the case, then it depends on the manufacturer.

What psu is it? If its just coming with a budget case then i would advise against it unless it something like an Antec. They usually throw Codegen or any other really budget Psu into these cheap cases, those tend to blow up.

I'm no expert but when I upgraded my PSU I discovered that it was important to check the amps on the various 'rails'. Especially true if your GFX card runs on a separate lead. I'm sure others here can expand on this and make it clearer for you. :o

well im buying it out of peats..except with a few changes such as the ram and graphics card check it out http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/shop/db.cgi?view=1&id=8937&type=6&path=14x122x8016 im not sure what make the case or psu is so i dont have a clue..ill check the calculater out and i might get in con tact with peats and ask them..thanks for your help and any more replys are welcome...

Theres a good chance it will not cover you TBH. A good brand yes you will just about be ok but in general when a PSU comes with a case its pretty weak.

Have you tried www.komplett.ie ? Much cheaper than peats, better range and you can pickup a 350w fortron and that will power ur system no probs.

It will work just fine, but any generic PSU will have crap reliability, be quite loud, and be VERY inefficient.

When I had a Qtec 400w PSU powering an average system the PC would heat the entire room to unbearable levels, being incredibly noisey at the same time.

I went to an Antec 380w in my current system ( A system which would draw a fair bit more power, with the GFX card taking the guts of 100w by itself ) there's only a slight warming effect on my room, and the PSU's isnt even as warm at full gaming speed as the Qtec's was sitting looking at the desktop.

If budget is a bit tight theres not much point replacing it really, but be prepared to put up with a lot of noise and wasted electricity.

i did the calculater thingy and made the cpu and graphics card highest settings as well as putting stuff in as 4 sticks of ram and other stuff that im not even gonna have in the computer so it should be alri by the calculater..but ill take your comments into mind and see what else i can find..ill probably just buy components and make my own...i dont have access to credit card anymore so cant order off komplett..know any actual shops in dublin that sell components at good prices

I ran a 400W on a 3500, cheapass AGP board, 6800GT, 2 ide hds(250 and 80GB), 2 sata's(300 and 250GB), a dvd + dvd writer, soundcard and ntwk card and the chassis had 4 fans that took a molex connector each. I had to plug out the smallest hd, as it messed with the video card but had no problems after that. So i reckon you'll just scrap it with your stuff and a 350W PSU.

I'm running a nigh-identical system on 350W, although, to be fair, it is a Seasonic/Arctic PSU. I'm running a 3000+, 1GB of RAM, 128MB 6600GT, one HDD, one DVD drive. It's an nForce 4 mobo too. No problems with it, even when I had 3 HDDs connected to it.

I wouldn't put any real worth in those PSU calculators, they all use absolute maximum possible load.

It's not like you're gonna be running Prime95 Torture Test, Memtest86, I/O Meter Hard drive Torture Test, Rthdribl gfx torture test and copying some games off of CDs at the same time, is it ?

yeah but at least ya know if the wattage is lower than your psu youll definetly be grand...

Well I guess it is possible that it could happen, but you know what I mean, pretty unlikely. Combined with the fact that the good companies, eg. Seasonic rate there supplies for less power than they can actually make and the fact that the crap companies, eg. Codegen, Qtec, rate their supplies for much more power than they could actually make, you're left with a bit of a problem.

Try just ringing up and finding out what brand the PSU is? Then check it against the sticky on hardforum.com's power supply thread. You never know, could be a Sparkle(Fortron) or Antec or something. Theres plenty of other no name companies that actually just rebrand decent PSUs. A 350w by any decent company will do u alright
