Does anyone know anything about the upcoming TV Live series?(as opposed to the 3D animation series also in the works) It seems to have a release date of 2007, but so far details are under wraps. Having scoured the web for ages ,all I can come up with is:
The series will be set between the two Trilogies
It will be shot in a studio in Sydney for High Definition Telly
George Lucas will be involved but will leave a lot of writing and directing to others.
Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett may have recurring roles.
A few Expanded Universe characters will feature.

    Anything else to add?

How is Mark Hamill going to play Luke Skywalker if it's set between the two series.

And he never got up to much before the droids came along anyway.... just shooting wamp nests in Beggars Canyon...

I can't wait for the series. I love Star Wars to the point of.....just plain sadness...eh...sadly.

However as Monkeyfudge said, how an earth could Hamill play luke, if its set between the two trilogies? So basically you're looking at a 50-something year old Hamill playing a Luke younger then he was in EpIV....lol

Boba Fett though interesting, I really hope that whilst it doesn't incorporate the main characters, it frequently refers to them. We all want to know more about Obi Wan on Tatooine, the founding fathers of the rebellion, as well as the introduction of actual Stormtroopers and all that jazz...

Bit of Vader also hopefully. One thing I found lacking between the two trilogies is that due to the literal gap in real life, IV-VI look like they're set decades before I-III, and obviously since he shot the last three first, its also hard to watch them in order and really feel they slot in perfectly together and that the characters are totally identifable...

EG - When we first see Vader in EpIV, no amount of watching EpIII can really make you feel like hes Anakin Skywalker from the first three movies I-III. Likewise, even though we know the facts, can we really imagine Alec Guiness from EpIV Fighting General Grevious, Anakin, Darth Maul? And when we see Vader and Obi-Wan fighting, even after we have seen the new trilogy, can we still think of them as the same guys in the new movies duelling on Mustasfar?

Its really hard. I love both trilogies but eh....I really hope this new TV show goes a huge way into bridging the main ties between III and IV in much more ways then just a standard spin off TV show featuring random adventures etc..

And Power convertors, he loved those Power convertors.

I'd like to see Grand Moff Tarkin back as the main bad guy.

Wayne Pygram who played Scorpius in Farscape played a young Tarkin at the end of Episode 3.. it would be great if they got him back.

    Various rumours I've heard:
    - Kevin Smith is rumoured to be involved
    - Mark Hamill to act (tho obviously not as Luke)
    - almost certain to be broadcast on fox
    - series filmed in australia
    - formation of rebel alliance is another avenue that will be explored
    - slated to run for 50 hours , rumoured they are hoping for a 5 season run. First 2 seasons of 25 eps are guarenteed and next 3 of 16-18eps depending on how popular the show is.
    - mixture of live action and CGI
    - Principle photography will start 2007
    - The Story will apparentley revolve around Imperial Bounty Hunters the story could take other directions
-vader will not be in it (according to Lucas)
-the kid who plays boba in ep2 'Daniel Logan' will reprise his role aged 18.
    - every ep will take place between ep 3-4 (no exceptions)

Rick McCallum "The live action series is set for early 2007 and will be darker, grittier and more character based than the movies according to Rick. As we've heard, it's targeted at 100 hours and set between Episode III and IV. They plan to shoot in high definition, or better if there is anything better by then, though not anticipated." Rick said it will likely be based in Sydney, but shot around the world.

Kevin Smith is not involved, he strongly denied it, and in fact said he has never even met George Lucas once. Would have been nice though.
Looks like Lucas is writing/directing the first season (which will be shot all at once), but new writers and directors will be brought onboard following that.
Rick McCallum recently said that no major characters will be featuring, only ones from the books etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Grand Moff Tarkin not gain power until the Emperor dies at the end of Episode VI?, how could he be the main bad guy in this T.V series if he's just an underling in that particular stage of his career?

Tarkin died at the end of Ep4.

Oh ****e yeah!, I'm thinking of a completely different character!, the guy who (after episode 6) reigns in the remanants of the empire under his control, Grand Admiral Thrawn.

I think you might mean Grand Admiral Thrawn. He appeared in the Zahn Trilogy books.

I really hope they stick with the same intro as the movie, ie. the classic movie score followed by the yellow scroll as introduction to each episode.

And lots of those scene transition wipes and zooms. I love those.

how an earth could Hamill play luke
Obviously he couldn't. The most obvious character I can see him playing would be a middle aged Owen Skywalker. Just as long as Jake Lloyd isn't brought back as a young Luke... *shudder*

I don't think there's any chance of that. No offence to Jake Lloyd but at the ripe old age of 16 he's starting to look 'creepy'.

Most important is that it is BIG BUDGET. Kinda like what Band of Brothers is to Saving Private Ryan.
