I have my music on a 80gig partition on my hard drive. All my music files are gone corrupt. When you open one it will give you the name of song but just won't play it. They all look like some kind of window files now and have square and circle symbols as tags.

Have you changed your file preferences by accident? I mean to say has the default application that mp3's are opened with been changed by some recent s/w installation? That's the only thing I can think of...

Heard of this happening before. Was in a thread over at winamp.com forums.

check your file preferences as the last poster said point at audio file/right click/select properties/set the program to 'Open With' and ok out. All I can think as well.

What were or have you done lately? Have you re-installed your os partition? That can cause this.

If it just happened then try a system restore if your using xp. Remember to switch of system restore after/re-boot/switch restore back on/then set new restore point.
It helps to clear the record of old possibly corrupted system restore points.
