Inspiredby a thread in After Hours (please continue reading :D ), I came across this:

You can't create a folder called "con" in Microsoft Windows.

And I tried. And it's TRUE!

    Why?

Con in microsoft speak is short for console and is therefore an illegal folder name.
If you type copy con blahblah.txt it will create the specified file containing whatever you type on the screen. If there was a folder called con there it would confuse things just a little...

    PS
to save the file press ctrl+z and then hit return :)

    Why?

    Google is are friend ;)

You can't create aux, nul, com either - com is obvious - it can be compromised. but theres about 220k results on it in google.... found this there http://robsta.id.au/2005/11/con-of-xp.shtml
Query: Its almost impossible to create a folder called 'con' in Windows XP.

    Answer: CON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9 are all Windows reserved device names from the early days of DOS.

But I think I found this to be quite humourous...
An Indian discovered that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere named as "con". This is something pretty cool...and unbelievable... At Microsoft the whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn't answer why this happened!

Thats from here - they further explain why....
