Hot Hatch's......options?

I recently had a spin in a 106 gti and it was great fun to drive and had mad power so i decided to look for an insurance quote thinking it would be a mad price but i got a quote for €1900.

so i started looking at other cars and had a spin in a mirage mivec and fell in love with it, and got quoted €1900 on this too, so have to decided to look further into the hot hatch scene (it thats what its called?)

so was wondering if you guys had any reccomendations on cars to look at or opinions about the two cars above and if you could tell me about insuring jap imports, is it more expensive, harder to get insured in a jap import?

Yeh 1600cc seems to be the restriction on the engine size, would buy an integra type r only for the restriction, currently drive a 1.4 focus and while nice to drive it's just a bit boring.

Yeh FTO is a lovely car, tis slighly out of my range though

so anyone got any opinions? name any other cars i could look into?

Civic SirII or typeR,mivec colt,saxo vts,106gti,toyota corolla/levin 20v,nissan pulsar/almera vzr or vzrn1 all of which are 1.6's and quick,i think the civics would be the quickest of the bunch tho.

I would also avoide buying any of the above from dealers as they charge stupid prices eg the 98 Vti civic there on carzone for 10k,an sir civic of the same year could be picked up for less than that and its a better car....

bloke I used to work with had a 106 GTI. Spent many a breaktime tooling around the dublin mountains with big grins on our faces. Superbly fun cars

Yeh it was great fun to drive but it isn't the sexiest car on the roads, must check out the insurance on a type r civic i have a feeling I going to get laughed at, I believe insurance companies hate the words Honda and type r
