Help with virus please

    ive recently got a virus ..im not that its doing something ..but its definetly there ..is there any way i can get rid of it..i have spy sweeper and northen anti virus but they cant get rid of it ..the virus is a downloader.trojan and its supposed to mess with .exe programs...any help please..

    Do you know the name of it or what chacteristics its displaying e.g. some virii change your cursor etc.

    If we had some description we could hunt for info on it in Google. There's usually a cure somewhere.

    Don't forget to back up all your files just in case.

    i did that thing that symantec told me to do..but it didnt find the virus when i ran a scan..which seems wierd because it said it was left alone and it cant find now..could it be gone by itself or what happened to it..please help

    You could try running a different Anti Virus program such as AVG Free

    Your not supposed to run two Anti Virus packages at the same time on a computer but if you disable Norton first then you should be ok. A second alternative is to use 'Panda Active Scan' which is an 'online' scanning solution ran via Internet Explorer. I've used it with some success in the past. You can access that here Panda Active Scan Remember you must use i.e. for this and switch of any pop-up blocker..

    Other than that you may need to visit your local computer engineer/shop to have it fixed. There are other methods such as switching the drive to a slave and then scanning it but this is a more professional approach and not recommended for the ordinary end user.

    im runnin the panda thing now..hope it works..could i not just restore my computer back to factory settings..when i bought the computer i made these three disks straight away and there supposed to restore the computer back to factory settings will these work?
