Hello, firstly I would just like to say how much I would appreciate it if you could help me,

What I am looking for is a small compact yet good digital camera, I want to have very good quality photos (when viewed on laptop screen) which work well in the dark, eg. on nights out in the pub.

I would be very interrested in purchasing online perhaps in computeruniverse.net or another cheap German site,

I would be willing to pay up to 250 euro, but would be delighted to pay about 150 if I new I was getting good value

the only one i have encountered so far is the canon ixus ones , altough my guess is they are overly priced, due to how cool they look if you get me,
    ok thanks for your advice/help.

When it comes to buying a camera how important is pixel size at the moment I seem to be looking for a 5.0 megapixel with 3x optical zoom, is there anything I should know?

    Hi Sandles.

It's hard to answer your questions with a "buy this model" type answer. There are new models released every week these days. I for one do not keep up to date on 90% of them. Everyone wants the best for the cheapest, that knida goes without saying.

My advice would be to do some research yourself. There are a good few magazines these days dedicated to digital camera reviews, one infact is called "Digital Camera Review". Go to a reputable camera store (not dixons or DiD or the like) and ask what they would recommend. If they only show you one camera, ask to see more or go to another shop.

Megapixel ratings are overrated - unless your going to be doing larger prints. 5mp is more than enough.

Just to say, I bought a Canon Ixux 50 for a friend recently, and they really like it.

    hope that helps

i have an isus i, had it for over 2 years now, can't fault it, it lacks optical zoom, but thats the price ya pay for style, takes great pictures, haven't had a problem with it ever and its been everywhere for sandy beaches to ski trips.

I've seen them cheap second hand in a few places, the camera shop near the back of brown thomas on the road with the enterance to fcuk has one cheap i think if thats any help.

oh and the main reason i bought it was for nights out in the pub, its so small it looks like a smalll phone in my pocket.
