What do you clever people think? For the price it seems like a decent setup, or could i get more for my money elsewhere? Im hoping that intel gfx card will be able to play CSS on really low settings :o , i read its similar to a 5200 which can play css.
Any advice would be great as usual :).

acer are the worlds 4th biggest laptop dealers after dell, toshiba and hp so im sure they are no problem. they do more business than sony in that area

thats a good deal alright considering you'd only save possibly 20euro buying from acer @ http://www.acernotebooks.co.uk/Acer_TravelMate_4152LCi_LX.T7606.077/version-1.asp

Ye, i thought the acer was a good deal :). The sony however is a fair bit cheaper, going through peats i do not pay vat so that would only work out at 900euro. The sony also has a PCI-express gfx card which must be a bit better - Sorry, complete noob when it comes to laptops :).
    Thanks for the comments.

    don't fall into the trap.

the sony one doesn't have a dedicated gfx card.

    # Intel® 915GM PCI Express Chipset with Integrated Graphics with 128 MB memory max. shared with System Memory

it uses the system memory (RAM) as a graphics card.

What is the biggest draw back of this? Lets say i was just going to use it for general stuff and no games would i notice any difference? Also would DVD playback be affected?
I would like a lappy that could jam CSS but its a luxury i could probably do without seen as im only gonna be playing for another 2 months :(.

well considering i find xp needs an absolute minimum of 512mb ram to run and this graphics chipset takes 128mb of that, that doesn't leave a lot of physical ram in the laptop.

also why are you only going to be playing cs:s for another 2 months? you are one of the few who can play ;)

Ok, well that doesnt sound good, think i will stear clear :). I have heard good things about acer so may just go for that, see if my dad can get the vat off.

I am heading back to South Africa in January so my CSS days will be ending :(. If i can get to an interent cafe that side with CSS i will try pop into IOA when i can, im gonna be a nervous wreck without my CS, just gotta power through :D.

Also, im assuming then that the Acer graphics card uses its own video memory?

no the intel gma 900 shares its memory with the system ram as well, i would go for the acer though as the sony one that you quoted has a celeron m which are ****e except for office or internet type work. if you want to attempt games on the shared graphics you need a decent cpu like the acer has.

have a look here to give you an idea of what games will work on an intel shared graphics card

Sounds expensive, and do you perhaps have a link? Does dell have different outlet stores for each region  .

theres only one in limerick afaik. It should be within your budget, although the factory outlet only sells laptops which have been returned/or damaged but are in full working order. If you get a new one theres 15% off right now and free delivery (its the last day) You'll only get a 1 year guarantee for that money if you buy it new tho.
