Serious Problem

I just sold my PC to my house mate, I had it for about 6 months, never had a problem with it... Just bought a new Graphics card and the most basic sound card. I installed everything and all was running grand. It was a bit slow so I reformatted it, it was working grand after that too. Next of all the mouse begins to freeze, then the keyboard... I restart and it works again for a bit. The internet connection kept getting lost and the other two computers were grand...

It then got stuck on startup and now there is nothing, I turn on the power and the screen doesn't turn from standby. I checked connections and everything... Can anyone help?

Reformatted from original system restore CDs?
Installed drivers for new Gfx & Sound cards?
    On-board Video/Sound disabled in Bios?

Don't know about the onboard stuff. But I think it is disabled...

    Rebooted from origional CD.

Installed the drivers also, could it be rom?

It's not even getting to bios. Just a blank screen the whole time?

I think I will try swapping rom and see what happend...

Disconnect anything you added sound cards etc and try and get it booted. Keep taking away non-essentail parts(drives, cards etc) and you might be able to pinpoint the baddy.

Is there an audible beep when you power it on now?

    Is your PSU bust?

Reseat the video card. If it's not seated properly it can prevent boot. Or it could just be bust :(

Usually a good place to start when you get no bios beeps . Even if you have a red light on the MOBO it can still be the psu , happened to me twice , first time didn't know and had to send it to the shop , second time I guessed right :)

Nice one, I will check the PSU and see what happens. The graphics card is only a few weeks old. Before I posted I checked to see if everythings was seated correcly and it was. The only things I didn't check was the PSU and the ram... tomorrow I will check it and let you know, thanks again. :)

I don't know if you took the motherboard out of the case to install, but if you did, check that the motherboard isn't shorting off the case - make sure you set up the mounting screws properly, and use the little red insulating ring things on them.
