Personally, I’d like to see no more than two seasons of ‘Lost’. I hope it ends permanently at the end of season two. I don’t need to have everything explained to me either. I’d much rather it have an ‘open to interpretation’ ending, much like the ending of the first season, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

It would be better for the series to take this route as I feel the writing will only suffer due to the demands of creating more storylines for the sake of it (The X Files).

How does everyone else feel? From reading this forum, there are already persons who seem to be losing interest in ‘Lost’, because of the way the storyline is unfolding, which is a huge pity.

    What do you think?

At the rate it is moving at the moment I can't see it being able to wrap up anytime soon.

It think if it goes beyond five seasons then that would really be pushing it.

And don't forget they've promised the cast a feature film to finish off the story once the series has finished.

Sorry about that - added a poll and it created a new thread.

I think that they will have about 5 season. Hopeful they will end it before it runs out of steam.

I can image them having one series where they are haunted by the Island but have been FOUND. :D

Other spin off series could be: -

    LOST: DESERT
    LOST: ANTARTICA
    FOUND
    SURVIVERS

    who is L5?

While I must admit that Season 2 is being drawn out a bit, I kinda like the fact that we only get a little bit of often ambiguous information per episode. The whole speculation regarding the end of the last episode is a classic example of this (if you aren't up to date with the latest episodes yet you will see what i mean when the time comes, this isn't marked a spoiler thread so I can't be more specific for fear of ruining somebody's enjoyment of the show).
I think this could go on for years, if the viewer numbers hold up, most of the cast are young and it is the big breakthrough for some so of the actors (in the sense that it made their faces familiar to so many people, I know most of them besides Dominic had less prominent tv or film roles before, but were hardly a household name)so I reckon a lot of the core actors will want to stick in there for a few more seasons at least if possible.

Mathew Fox (Jack) was in Party Of Five
Terry O'Quinn (Locke) was in Millenium and had guest starred in The X-Files.

Someone who voted "terrible" on 90% of last seasons episodes, without giving a reason until challanged on it,claimed to just not like it,yet continued to watch it,and has voted on some season 2 eps, meaning he has no life and is continuing to watch a show he really doesn't like, which is fairly sad in all honesty,or he is not watching anymore but is still voting terrible in everything just because he doesn't like it,again...sad.

I think a third season would be welcomed but only if there was adequate plot lines to support it... I dont think any of us want to see it out stay its welcome. Id admit the pace is pretty slow in the second series and there is nothing wrong with that provided we're not going to be waiting for five years for the big reveal.

Good point. I'd just hate to see the show go downhill after such a good first season and second season (so far that is...).

As long as the writers have the whole story written (from beginning to end) right now, I'm happy. At least then they won't end up having to hold 'brainstorming' sessions to come up with new ideas for the 'next' season.

But I'm sure we'll all notice if they start writing garbage.

I think the idea behind Lost won't last more than 4 or 5 seasons, the whole 'not telling the viewer anything' idea will get old by that time in my opinion, it happened with 24 (basing a television programme on a new idea, setting it in real time), series 4 was the worst of the 4.. whereas something like the X-Files which lasted 9 seasons wasn't based on a new type of television programme (if you get me here, there were other programmes about the paranormal, the government, the fbi, etc before it)

To be honest I am not all that happy with season 2. I think the main reason why has been that I have watched the trailers for the next one and then feel let down when I see it. I never done this last year, I am not going to do this again and hopefully not read any spoilers in newspapers by mistake.
I think that they should end this season with a brilliant season and just leave it at that, I would like to see more stuff happening per episode instead of trying to drag it out over a few seasons, thus condense the material that they have left into this season and leave it at that.
I think at the minute Prison Break is miles ahead of Lost and Veronica Mars could overtake it soon.

if that happened it would drive me crazy and id just end up killing somebody

    :(

im looking for definitive answers by the end of this season

....That's fair enough, but I reckon you and a whole lot more will be whinging becuase it didn't impress the way you hoped it would. As everyone has their own interpretation of what's going on. A definitive explaination won't please everyone.

I hope the show delivers an impressive/surprising ending. But it should really quit while it's ahead.

I just have a feeling that this show is going to suffer from it's own hype. Going downhill because of it. As I said before, if they start writing storylines for the sake of it, the point of the whole show is (forgive me) 'lost'.

    John.

Your mad if you think its not going on until at least 5 series. Its so popular right now & its the way of cash cows that their milked until they have no more to give.

Of course it could always be ****ed up by the network ala Twin Peaks and be cancelled mid run in the third series (although obviously Peaks only had two series)

Well there was talk with the producer and he said they are aiming for 8 series at the most. That to me is ridiculous. If they quit soon it will go down in TV history as one of the greatest TV shows of all time in my opinion. Think about it if they quit after the 3rd season it will be short and sweet and nostalgia will take over from there. It's brilliant it shouldn't be ruined for money making purposes.

He also said they are not planning on a movie ending but he said its a possibility. Personally i would like to see a long feature length episode for its ending.

I wouldn't mind a series three but if they keep on the road they are now.....then no.
It's very slow and not moving at all.
I havent got up after an episode in season two yet and said **** yeah that was deadly.
