Anyone know if it's possible to buy a laptop in Ireland with no operating system or at least no windows?

Should take a couple of hundred quid off the price, I run Gentoo Linux. By the way if anyone sees a dell c640 with a long range wireles card and antennae running Gentoo Linux then it was stolen from me last week! It's unique.

Failing that, I've heard it's possible to disagree with the eula and get a refund for windows. Anyone here tried this?

I've heard this too, but it sounds like a headache. Apprently you have to ring Dell, who pick it up, remove the OS and return it to you. Never heard of anyone actually doing it though.

I'm not sure if this is valid to the EU also. If so, good luck...

Just wipe it out and install Gentoo. It's more expensive, yes, but it saves you a lot of time and trouble. Besides, you would have a legitimate Windows version that you can install in case you sell the laptop again.

but dont Dell get the oem version of windows for
    dirt cheap?

meaning that you wouldn't save much for all the
trouble you have to go through.
