    Interleaving eircom BB ie. lagging in online gameplay etc, anyone know anything about this??

    Its used as a means of error correction, it essentially spreads out the data so that less data is lost on a line that has a lot of noise on it.

    This spreading out effectively adds latency to the line, the more interleaving, the more latency.

    No interleaving (aka fastpath) and a good line would see first hop latency at between 5ms and 10ms, but eircom will not switch latency off on your line.

    The unbundled lines in the country have better latency because interleaving is turned off. There are hardly any unbundled lines (exchanges) in the country though. Cable is also excellent for latency. Wireless is very hit and miss, can be excellent but you can't rely on it.
