Speculation Thread

Who do you think would win in a match up between Owen Roddy and Tim Murphy?

The reason I am asking is I was just watching over some of the mmaleague dvds and these two fighters stood out and seem to be similar in size, so i'm sure a compromise could be sought.

From what I know about Roddy is that he's a grappler with natural striking ability and Tim is a striker with natural grappling ability. I'm not sure who has the most experience.

This thread is purely speculation and should be approached in a "who would win a 20 year old mike tyson or a 30 year old lennox lewis". Or approached however you feel like approaching it, who am I to tell you what to think.

Obviously there is only one way to find out, a match up soon, to see. or better yet, 3 match ups spread two weeks apart.

I wonder if this fight has ever been considered by those who arrange and promote these events? I heard of COR v TM in MMA and I've seen COR V OR in BJJ, a bit apples and oranges with a good dose of traingle theory, but I think this could be a cracker.

    What do YOU say?

    Who would win? The fans!

Tim definitely has the edge in experience, but these guys are closely matched.

Owen is fighting in UFR Xtreme Combat 4 on November 27th, so if anybody wants to see him in action, get yourself up North!

Actually, i think I'll go to this. Can't make it to london for Vitor but I can make it to Belfast ( i do assume it's in belfast) for Roddy!

I've fought Owen. Although I was very inexperienced at the time, I can tell you that he's a great fighter and someone to watch out for. He's got a really solid ground game (which is what I expected from him when we fought) - unlucky for me, he unleashed a solid clinch on me and put a knee clinic on me ;)

It would be a great fight. Tim is more seasoned but Owen is a great fighter. I'd like to see more of him in the bigger shows - Last time I talked to him, he said he wanted to fight in bigger shows.

Both great guys - Would be a good fight. Who'd win? Like clive said.

I get the impression that John Kavanagh is cultivating Owen like a fine wine, when Roddy gets the nod from John I am pretty sure he will take the Lightweight division by storm.
Tim is already a Rock n'Rumble superstar in Irish MMA, taking a break at the moment to finish off his masters, I picked against Tim once and he proved me wrong so I'd never do it again! It would be a great fight.

Tim has an auld point there mark. Before Tom took away his title tim was definatly king of the underdogs.

T'would be a great fight surely.
